Everyone is finally settled and happy in the new, improved SEI Albany Office.  We are located in the same building, but now have more room to breathe and work.  Stop on up to see us. 

The prize winners are revealing their winnings from the Sock Mojo contest.

First, you see Kurt’s legs fancy tuxedo socks.  You then see Laura in (according to her) her only pair of matching socks.  Way to rock the socks!

We have the winners of the Sock Mojo contest!  Couldn’t decide between, so had to award 2 winners.  Luckily, we are not making them share one pair of socks, because that could be awkward.  The final winners are Laura for brand loyalty, and Kurt for bravery.  The winners will receive their prize this week (socks, of course) and you can expect to see photos of the winners modeling their prizes soon. 

Well, Leona Lewis was not there singing Footprints in the Sand, but this was a very romantic proposal!

Congrats to the happy couple – SEI’s Michele Volpe, and her fiance, Kevin.  As always, you can click to enlarge the photo.  You can see the ring next to the heart shaped rock!

Some little know facts.  60% of the males in our Albany office are named Matt.  And now 2/3 of the Matts have a daughter named Mia!  Congratulations to Matt and Sarah Schools on the birth of their daughter, Mia Frances!

There was a very nice article about Brenna in the paper!  Brenna has done a great job establishing a local NY chapter of the Tears Foundation.  Brenna and the group are planning the Rock and Walk fundraiser on May 26th – contact her for more info.   Way to go, Brenna!

The Albany crew recently had a baby shower for Matt Schools and his wife, Sarah. The Schools are anticipating a new female arrival this February.

Recently, SEI Design Group hosted the first, hopefully to become annual, SEI Chili Cook-Off.  SEI staff brought in their homemade chili recipes and let them simmer all morning throughout the office.  At lunch everyone convened at the second floor conference table to partake in some spicy tastings. There were a variety of entries including a turkey chili, a venison chili, two types of Cincinnati chili, and two traditional chilis with kick!
Cooks included Kurt Vater, Kelly Wobser, Beth McFarlane, Ted Mountain and Brian Cieslinski. Other tasters/judges included Karen Caruso, Steve Staveski, Paula Cisterna, Bill Serow and Jim VanSchaffel.

Prizes were awarded as follows:

Fan Favorite
Prize:  $25 gift card to Chili’s Restaurant went to Ted Mountain with his stewed tomato base chili with Frito chips, sour cream and cheese.

Most Hot
Prize: (3) bottles of hot sauces; Tropical Pepper Co. XXXXtra Hot Habanero Pepper Sauce, Tabasco Chipotle, Tiger Sauce, went to Kelly Wobser with her venison chili and cheese accompanied with corn bread and honey butter.

A good time was had by all, and the jar of Tums is nowhere to be found.

As in 2010, 2009, and 2008, the Rochester office of SEI Design Group participated in the The Chase Corporate Challenge 2011.  Congrats to all who finished the race and thanks to Team Captain Ted Mountain who got us a prime spot for our tent.
