All Fired Up

November 9, 2011

Two new biomass boilers were fired up at Ausable Valley CSD last week! Woodchip boilers are one of the green initiatives that many clients are considering.

The District is hosting a Grand Opening Event on November 16, 2011 to showcase one of their two new biomass facilities, part of the District’s $29.85 million Capital Project. The two (2) 140-foot x 30-foot woodchip boiler plants are a sustainable and eco-friendly heating source. By utilizing woodchips sustainably harvested from the local resources, the District can help the environment and local economy while reducing the District’s overall energy cost.

SEI has designed 60% of the biomass boilers in schools in New York State.

Congratulations South Lewis CSD!

May 21, 2008

Voters in South Lewis approved an $18.7M Capital Project that includes roof replacement, pool restoration work, exterior wall rehabilitation, technology, and bus garage renovation. Of particular note, the District has many green/ energy saving initiatives including installing a new biomass (wood chip) boiler at the Middle School/High School and bus garage, and also, a peak demand shaving generator will be included to cut electric usage at the MS/HS facility. The heat given off will be captured and transferred to heat the pool water. Congratulations to all!    Additional photos: Photo1, Photo 2
